The Translator as a Traumatized Protagonist in Inaam Kachachi’s The American Granddaughter

Ever since the publication of Cathy Caruth’s articles and books on trauma in 1990s, Western literary circles have witnessed an interest studies. Trauma studies gradually connected psychology, interdisciplinary manner, to other cultural scientific aspects like postmodernism, postcolonialism, history translation This paper argues that resulting from both indigenous dictatorship colonial war Iraq has created national as well individual fragmentation. From prominent Iraqi writers writing is Inaam Kachachi with her postmodernist take The American Granddaughter. examined story Zeina Behnam, American/Iraqi translator for Army during Second Gulf War who argued be a dissociative personality due trauma. It does not give readers relief taking sides or clarity one-sided vision. follows qualitative method based roughly on, analysis (of psychological texts primary text) ethnographical search main character’s subtly told history.
